Dubai and the UAE - The Big Picture
Tomorrow will be the grand opening of the latest addition to the skyline of Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). The Atlantis Palm Resort, with over 1,500 rooms, will be hosting an opening ceremony with celebrities from around the world tomorrow night. The rapid development in Dubai and across the UAE hasn’t all been easy lately, as infrastructure problems (handling rising levels of waste to match massive development), and world financial struggles have slowed progress.
Actress Namitha broke-up with her boyfriend
Actress Namitha is a busy person but out side of her busy career she is a soft and regular woman. After failing in Tollywood, Namitha came to Chennai, where she met Bharath Kapoor.
Bharath helped Namitha to build her career in Kollywood. He was a friend, philosopher and a good guide. Namitha became famous and offers started to pour.
Namitha became busy and problems started between their relationship. She wanted to movie back to Mubai, but her father Mukesh came to Chennai to stay with her. Mean while Kapoor found new friendship with the actress Jenny in Mubai.
Currently actress Namitha is going to Bangkok to shoot for the movie Billa (Telugu) where she is going to act the same part as in Tamil Billa. Hopefully Namitha will have a better change to get into Tollywood after this.
Divya with Actor Srya’s Brother
After Vaaranam Aayiram actress Divya Spandana will be seen in the movie Kadhal 2 Kalyanam. Divya will be acting with actor Shahir, who is the brother of actor Arya.
The movie is under the diction of Milind Rau, who is Maniratnam’s first assistant. Actress Divya Spandana started with the film Kuthu and now she has come a very long way.
Tamil star’s performances in the year 2008
Kollywood had a little bit better future this year with most of the Tamil films hitting the hit phase and the big heroes making merry at the box office.
Some of the facts, about the Tamil celebrities this year are lined up below relating to their movie performances
Kamal Hassan- With much hype, Kamal’s Dasavatharam was released this year and the movie earned well at the box office with a total collection of Rs 80 crores. Kamal was happy that his hard work of 2 years has finally paid him well.
Rajnikanth- Superstar Rajnikanth had a bitter experience this year with his KUSELAN opening on high expectations. But the movie met a disaster in the second week as the collections were below than average in the year 2008. Thus, the movie was declared a super flop with a loss of almost 40 crores to the distributors.
Vijay- Vijay is one actor who can be banked on as his theory of one movie per year is paying off. His latest release KURUVI has passed the 100 day mark and the movie and has earned almost 48 crores at the box office. This ejected Vijay’s position to the top in Kollywood.
Vikram – Vikram who had high expectations on his movie Bheema was dissatisfied with its performances. The movie had a high opening, but at last gathered back its investments finally. The reason was said to be the movies unnecessary delay.
Surya- Vaaranam Aayiram released with high expectations and is said to be a emotional movie with a lot of sentiment sprinkled on it. The movie earned well in its first two weeks of run gathering almost 28 crores till now. Still the movie has along way to go and will surely hit the 35 crore target.
Ajith- Ajith who made it big with BILLA last year had his second release AEGAN in October. The movie had high expectations and thus survived as expected. Thee movie’s Audio Launch
Sundar C’s movie Thee’s Audio Launch took place in Chennai with a grand function.
At the same function Sun Pictures unveiled their audio logo. The first cassette was given to Nakul and Santhanu by Khushbu. The CD was given to the Producers Council by Raghava Lawrence.
Actor Simbu, Srikanth, Imman and Vijay Anthony were present at the function.
Actress Ranjitha plays the mother to actor Vijay
Actress Ranjitha, who was introduced by director Bharathiraja in the movie Nadodi Thendral is back.
She is playing the mother of actor Vijay in the movie Villu. Unlike the heroes the heroines have to play mother after a while; they become to old to soon. Just like Geetha who played Vijay’s mother in the movie Sivakasi, and actress Simran for Surya in Varanam Ayiram.
Now Ranjitha takes the senior role in the movie Villu. Ranjitha has acted in many movies in 1990s but after marriage she went to the small screen.
Villu features Vijay with hot actress Nayanthara. Can you picture Nayanthara playing the mother of actor Vijay in the future?
Sleepless nights for Linguswamy
Director Linguswamy has made many movies that were very successful but now he seems very worried.
Linguswamy was going to star actor Karthi in his new project that was going to start in September. Unfortunately Karthi is caught up with director Selvaraghavan’s movie Aayirathil Oruvan. It got dragged on for a long time now and it doesn’t look like it is going to end.
Another problem for him is that the crew went to Pondicherry coast for a shoot but because of the tidal condition the team has to retreat.
